Find Your Way to Oz on desktop is a rich immersive world and an awesome showcase of the possibilities of the web. It’s a project I came across while visiting HTML5Rocks, an amazing website! They used 3D and several layers of traditional filmmaking inspired effects that combine to create a near-realistic scene. The most prominent technologies are WebGL with Three.js, custom built shaders and DOM animated elements using CSS3 features. Beyond this, getUserMedia API (WebRTC) for interactive experiences allowing the user to add their image directly from Webcam and WebAudio for 3D sound. If you want to know more about the techniques, visit this tutorial, it is very informative! Below some of the screenshots I made, check it out and be sure to visit the website yourself.
