Readability of your website is an important thing. Images can tell a lot, but for more information, people have to read some text. Besides the fact that the text and the tone of voice have to match with your visitors needs and knowledge, there’s also the look of the text. Think about the font, the font size and the color of the words for example. The easier it is to read for your visitors, the easier they will actually read the whole thing.
So make sure that the contrast is good. Don’t place a white text over a light image and make sure the background is clean. Use a good color to look at, which is most of the times around black and grey for light backgrounds and white for dark backgrounds.
Than it is most common to use sans serif fonts and of course they mustn’t look too fancy. For reading a longer text than one short sentence, keep it basic.
And last but not least, make sure the size of the font is big enough. It has to be easy to read, so don’t make your visitors aim for their reading glasses and use a font size of at least 16pt.
