In ‘The Portfolio of…’ I feature one designer a day and give all of you a chance to share your work with the world. A lot of you are looking for ways to share your work, get your name out, reach possible clients, you name it… We’re here to help! Submit your portfolio for a chance to get featured here. Today it’s time to show you a selection of the works of Mary-Anne Ramirez.
Mary-Anne Ramirez: I’m a designer with a passion for lettering, typography, and all things design. Since graduating from SUNY New Paltz in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, I became a full time graphic designer in NYC. My thesis project, Dreamspired: A Project on Dreams and Lucidity has won an Above the Fold Web Design Award.
I started out working for a magazine, mostly designing the page layout, but then I shifted towards digital design (designing websites). I recently started hand lettering again and love it with a passion. It combines my love for drawing and using programs such as Adobe Illustrator to create something on screen.
One project that I enjoy working on the most is my personal project. In October 2014, I started a personal design project on Instagram (@daily.design) which I called #TypeTuesday or #TypographyTuesday where I either hand letter or type set lyrics that are stuck in my head that week. It started off as a simple side project, but I have grown committed to it each week and as a result, I have gained a following from other designers and letterers. I’ve also noticed more and more letterers and designers using the hashtag (typetuesday) as a result. I typically use quote or lyrics from current songs, which people love because those songs are usually stuck in their heads too.
