A lot of you are looking for ways to share your work, get your name out, reach possible clients, you name it… We’re here to help! Submit your portfolio for a chance to get featured here. Today it’s time to show you a selection of the works of Manuela Thames.
Manuela Thames: I was born and lived most of my life in Germany, but moved to the US in 2004 when I married my husband, who is American. We live in Saint Paul, Minnesota with our two young sons.
My background is in nursing and alternative healthcare but my passion has always been art in various forms. In 2008 I began to focus on photography after two life-changing events happened within a year, the death of my brother and the birth of my first son.
My pictures consists largely of black and white portraits. My self-portraits are often a visualization of the conflicting feelings of pain and joy in life, the experience of loss, grief and depression, my journey towards self-knowledge, and the elusive beauty within it all.
I get mostly inspired by nature, music, and poetry. The majority of my pictures are shot digitally and post processed in photoshop.
The attached photographs are a collection of my favorite images. The self portraits are ongoing and I also focus on portraits of children in nature. Currently I am developing a new portrait series titled “Milk Bath”.
My work has been part of exhibitions throughout the US and has been published online and in print.
