In a time where movie posters weren’t made with computers a great cartoonist drew amazing posters. His name was John Burton “Jack” Davis. He died last week and reached the age of 91. In this post we will show you some of his great works.
Besides the movie posters Jack Davis was known for advertising art, magazine covers, record album art and numerous comic book stories. He was also a founding member of Mad magazine.
He had his own style of drawing and inspired many, many other cartoonists. His characters are of humourous proportions which cartoonists nowadays seem to copy. The heads are bigger, the smiles wider and tiny bodies. In his works he putted much more energy and motion than movie posters nowadays can do with only photography and photoshop.
I hope he will stay an inspiration for others for a long time.
