Today we have a look at the works of John Roumpanis (Sugahtank), a painter and retired boxer working in Athens Greece,

John: My work explores the relationship between the body, Fight ethics and counter-terrorism. With influences as diverse as Nietzsche and George Bellows, new variations are distilled from both orderly and random structures. As a boxer I have been fascinated by the traditional understanding of the mind during fights. What starts out as yearning soon becomes finessed into a hegemony of futility, Leaving only a sense of decadence and the inevitability of a new beginning.
As temporal phenomena become distorted through boundaried and repetitive practice, the viewer is left with a clue to the limits of our condition.
