Today we have a look at the works of Christian Frederiksen, an editorial illustrator and graphic novelist. He lives in Calgary, Canada and received a Bachelor of Design from Alberta College of Art and Design. He has about fifty-five years to live. Christian works mostly digitally in a flattened geometric style, derived from cut paper, but made with the pen tool instead. Christian focusses on the weird, the monstrous, and the beautiful and communicates the essence of his subject though dynamic composition, quirky details, and visual clarity. He draws inspiration from both the cold brutality of modernity and the splendours of the natural world. Christian’s work has been featured in American Illustration, Creative Quarterly, and won a Communications Arts award of Excellence.
