International Hot Air Balloon Festival 2012

Two weeks ago the sky of León, Guanajuato, Mexico was dotted with hot air balloons. The spectacle was the main event of the 11th annual Leon International Balloon Festival. The balloon pilots and their balloons where carried high above the Metropolitan Ecological Park of Leon. The balloons come in a wide array of colors and shapes, where the huge Darth Vader balloon is one of my favorites…  About 200 pilots, representing over a dozen countries, congregated in León’s Metropolitano Park to speckle the sky with their hot air balloons for this annual ballooning event, which has come a long way since its humble beginning in 2002 with 27 balloons.
