Designer and space enthusiast Brad McNally had a dream, and he sent that dream out into the world on Twitter: “I want to make an awesome version of Comic Sans called Cosmic Sans.” People read this tweet and got excited. So Brad’s wife (and owner of Constellation & Co.) Sara McNally set out to plan this thing! They sent out a call for entries and filled their roster in under 48 hours. They were inspired to organize this show by other rad collaborative projects like The Everywhere ProjectThe Momentus Project, and 50 and 50. The galaxy-wide opening of Cosmic Sans took place on September 6, 2012 in Seattle, Washington. The event was held during the Pioneer Square first Thursday art walk at the Design Commission Gallery. Each framed art print was sold via silent auction to benefit 826 Seattle, a local non-profit that offers free tutoring, creative writing classes and field trip opportunities for kids in Seattle. Their storefront, the Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co. was a perfect fit for their cosmic theme. The event had a great turnout and they sold all 26 pieces and raised over $1,000 for the children of Earth! Here are some of those cosmic sans prints, enjoy!
