Today we take a look at a few drawings of Chinnan.
“I am a figurative painter, mostly do portraits. I do rely on quick marks followed by shortest interruptions. These actions hold me with desired closeness to the subject. It is all about the painted reality, not the representational reality. Representations are only one of the elements in the whole process. At times the familiar and the likeness is shared by the many than expected. It goes away from me to the viewer and further.
I think the portrait is only one. The formal differences are only a skin deep perception and that is where the so called beauty lies. But the whole experience is definitely not about the mere identity.”
