Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it – Mary Oliver
Through wandering, exploring, discovering…I see, feel, and appreciate more. I collect stories in sights, sounds, colors, and textures. Whether I am in a park in my neighborhood, or in an urban city on the other side of the world, it all returns to the studio with me and fuels the energy of the work.
Influences also include pop culture, graphic design, architecture, nature, science, and symbolism.
There are no rules. Experimentation, mark-making, and the physical aspect of materials and process are integral to my studio practice. Using both painting and mixed-media techniques, I create from a mix of acrylic, house paint, textured mediums, enamel, ink, and new and repurposed materials.
Many years of painting practice has resulted in work that is raw, bold, layered, and complex.
Ultimately, my work is about exploring energy, memory, and sensory experience.
