One of the most famous posters in modern history is the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster, designed by Shepard Fairey. Of course, that isn’t the only poster that features U.S. presidents; hundreds if not thousands of presidential posters can be found online. Some are little more than photos of presidents in action, others are designs in tribute or jest. In tribute to the position of Leader of the Free World, I’ve showcased 10 of my favorite posters featuring presidents below.
Designed in the style of the HOPE poster, this poster features Abraham Lincoln and the principles he stood for as president.
This poster features a photograph taken of President Reagan after he signed his tax bill into law. In the photo, Reagan raises his boot symbolically.
Teddy was famous for his adventure exploits, the spirit of which is captured in this exciting poster design.
President Franklin Roosevelt’s image dominates this World War II-era poster marketing war bonds sold by Victory Loans.
This poster features a painting of George Washington as president … look closely, and you’ll see the first Commander-In-Chief by the residence.
This poster was designed with a cartoon version of President Coolidge against an American flag backdrop.
One of the most storied presidents, President Kennedy is immortalized in this pop art poster design.
This poster proclaims “viva revolution” and features a bust of President Jefferson, one of the original patriots.
The first assassination attempt of a U.S. president happened in 1835, when an unemployed painter tried to shoot President Jackson outside the Capitol Building. He tried two different pistols, both of which backfired, before Jackson proceeded to beat the man with his cane. This poster depicts the scene.
Sure, the HOPE poster is cool, but this superhero movie-inspired poster makes President Obama out to be the next Captain America.
